Heart Sounds Program

Learning to auscultate the heart is a central part of the basic physical examination.  Graphical description of these sounds is a helpful part of understanding the pathophysiology of cardiologic disease.  Actual heart sounds have been recorded and developed into a program that can be accessed from most computers capable of downloading sound files.  Dr. Chris Cable built this program / website while he was a fourth year medical student.

Please visit the Auscultation Assistant (English version) to learn more about heart sounds!

This program is currently being translated into Mandarin and Spanish and will be available free of charge on this website in the fall of 2006.
